There is no shortage of talent in the Dance Program at Newton High School, but with so many dancers participating, there was a shortage of funds for proper costumes. Dance teacher Alainna Evans wanted the dancers to have proper costumes and footwear that reflected the young women’s commitment to their art. NEF was happy to help and provided a grant to fund costumes that allow these talented dancers to sparkle and shine. They will use them at the December 10 dance performance and by future students for years to come.
Senior Anaya Wren summed up why this matters. “Our hard work and dedication to the dance program is one thing, performance quality another, but our outfits, costumes, accessories, and props is what make our hard work shine! As a senior this year, I want to make the absolute most of the beautiful time I have left to dance in high school. Uniforms and costumes are a huge part of the dance world and although it may seem like a small thing to many, to dancers it can really elevate a performance. I ALWAYS say when you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good, you dance good! So, I thank you for giving my peers and I the opportunity to perform in style!”
Thank you Anaya, and all of the NHS dancers, for your dedication to your craft and for bringing the arts alive for NHS audiences.
