Maggie Johnson, a math teacher at Eastside High School, knew that while graphing calculators were essential for learning Algebra, the pricetag was steep which left many students without this critical tool.  She wrote a grant to purchase 20 graphing calculators and charging caddies.

Here is what Maggie shared in her grant request, “Investing in this grant means directly addressing the financial barriers faced by many of our students. Many of our students cannot afford the Tl-84 graphing calculators that are essential for enhancing Algebra concepts and skills to prepare for standardized tests, rigorous honors and Advanced Placement courses as well as post secondary education. By providing these calculators and caddy sets, you are helping to level the playing field and ensuring that more students, regardless of their financial background, has access to the tools they need to succeed.”

The Newton Education Foundation puts community resources to work for our kids so they can achieve academic and personal success. We do this by providing funds that help our schools remove obstacles, provide great educational opportunities that deepen learning and support teachers in meeting the learning needs of all kids.

Consider making a gift, of any amount, so that more students can use the latest tools for learning. www.newtoneducationfoundation.org/donate
