With support from a Newton Education Foundation Opportunity Grant, Becca’s Closet Greater Atlanta hosted a free Prom Dress Giveaway in March at Alcovy High School, ensuring that cost would not stand in the way of students experiencing one of high school’s most memorable milestones.
Although dresses and accessories are provided free of charge, the NEF Opportunity Grant covered the event expenses that made a high‑quality, welcoming experience possible. Funding supported transportation of dresses, event supplies, garment racks, mirrors, volunteer hospitality, administrative needs, and celebratory touches like a photo booth and red carpet.
More than 80 Newton County students in grades 9–12 attended the event, selecting dresses, shoes, and accessories in a supportive, joyful environment.

Becca’s Closet is a nonprofit organization that, through volunteer-led chapters nationwide, provides free prom dresses to students who may not be able to afford them. The Greater Atlanta chapter has served the Metro Atlanta area since 2012 with a mission to help students feel confident, included, and celebrated.
